Just a little update to mention that v1.08 was released a little while back, and the
Addon Changes page has been fixed. Incidentally, I am
still unable to view the Forum, so cannot as yet make any replies. I'm
currently working on a solution to this by linking to a new forum on my own personal site over
at BootBlock.co.uk.
A new version of WoWus was released on the 17th April. There was a bit of a delay
updating this page to reflect that, but it was pushed out on that release date as normal. Please
note that there may be delays to replies from myself made in the forum; everything else is still
functioning as normal.
A new version of WoWus has been released. Please note that anyone that has downloaded
it within an hour of it going live will get an error about a missing .dll file. Please
download it again (making sure you don't download the cached version) to fix this problem. A big
thanks goes out to Tony H. for reporting the missing file error. Please note that error reporting
directly from within WoWus returns a 500 Internal Server error. This is because I'm still in the
process of re-working my personal site which
WoWus reports to. Finally, the screenshots section has been updated with new images.
It's been a while, but here is a new version of the application. There aren't many
changes in this new release because WoWus appears to be pretty much complete as things
go. Check out the download section
to see the updated changelog and to download the new version.
Additionally, if I don't make an appearance in the forums for a while, it's generally
because I can't get into it (something to do with this site's hosting) as opposed to
some such nonsense about the WoWus project being dead.
A new version has been released. This version contains mostly bug fixes, along with a couple of
additional features and minor changes. Go on over to the download section
to see the updated changelog and to download the new version.
This is it, this is the v1.00 final non-beta release that we've been waiting for. WoWus is now
of a quality that I am happy with that I can release it without the beta tag. This version contains
the biggest list of changes so far within the last ten releases of the program. Please go to the
download section to see the changelog and to download the
new version. Have fun with it, and thanks for taking the time to give it a go!
The main purpose of this version is to fix a bug that sometimes prevents WoWus from displaying the
add-on updates information on non-English installations of Windows. There are some other bug fixes,
along with a few new features as requested in the forum. See the Download section for a link to the
changelog or view the WoWus documentation's History section.
A new version of WoWus has been released, adding support for backing up and restoring
game data (addons themselves, their settings, WoW data, etc), along with various changes
and the database enhancements mentioned previously. Please take a look at the Download
section for the changes and download link.
Another release puts us well on the track at hitting the v1.00 milestone. This version
features a true download listings mirror system, along with fixes and all that good stuff.
Go into the Download area to get it; the full changelog
is also available in the Download area or via the WoWus manual (Misc - History).
WoWus Download Mirror: www.BootBlock.co.uk - WoWus
This new version mainly consists of fixes and a couple of features. The interface
has also been slightly improved; download it from the Downloads section of the website.
WoWus Download Mirror: www.BootBlock.co.uk - WoWus
A new version has been released. The most significant feature in this version is
the ability to use a mirror to download the list of available updates. This fixes
the problem of some users not being able to resolve the WoWus.m6.net website;
you should not use the mirror option (available within the Settings area)
if you can already download updates! Finally, a couple of screenshots in the Screenshots
section have been updated.
This new version is pretty significant in that it takes WoWus much closer to being
a full v1.00 release product. The surface changes aside, there are many changes and
improvements that have been made to the behind-the-scenes code that make WoWus more
robust and reliable.
As this version is compliant with non-administrative Windows accounts, the location
of the settings file has changed; this means that your settings will be lost and will
need to be redone. You could copy your Settings.xml file to the new location, but changing
settings is so quick that it would actually take longer preserving them than to redo them.
One more thing: there is now a secret area hidden within WoWus. Can you find it?
I have added a link to the change log in the Download section. Click on it for the
changes made from the very first version to the latest version. A new version of WoWus
(quite a big one, in fact) should be available in the next few days. If there is anything
you would like to suggest, then now is the time to do so. One last thing: you need to be
a registered user to post in the forums; this is required due an influx of spam lately.
Another day, another release. This one is just a quick bug-fix release that hopefully
fixes an exception that happens on non-English versions of Windows when WoWus starts up.
A new version is out. As usual, head on over to the Download section to get it. A list
of changes can be found in the Miscellaneous - History section of the manual. I have
also updated the Screenshots section of the site with
new images, and have added a little more information to the Downloads and Donation pages that some
of you may or may not want to check out.
The new version of WoWus has been released. This version includes a new Add-On Management and Tweaks
area that has replaced the previous Backup Add-Ons area. There have been numerous additions, changes,
and fixes in this release, plus the addition of Pique. Pique is an exception handler that allows you
to recover from WoWus crashes (I've yet to see one happen, myself, but you never know..!) and submit
crash reports to me. Head on over to the Download area and grab it.
The reason why WoWus doesn't tell you what versions of existing
add-ons you have installed is because this is not consistently possible. Various add-ons
break various standardised rules when it comes to their .toc file; it is not possible to tell which
version of an add-on is installed with 100% certainty - full stop.
In a flurry of activity, both the site and application are ready after less than a week
of starting the project. I'd say how it was a rollercoaster of a ride and the captain
would have my badge as I was a loose cannon and didn't get the job done within 24 hours,
etc - but I'd be lying. There was a bit of a showstopper when it was realised that there
was no reliable way of comparing locally installed versions of addons with their remote/updated
counterparts, but I hope that it's okay now. Anyway, head on over to the Download
section and give it a go. There's no malware or any of that crap - guaranteed. Finally, if
you like WoWus (World of Warcraft Updating System), then please consider making a donation
if you think it's worth anything.
